Before even starting the car please make sure all radio equipment has batteries in good condition or if rechargables are fully charged.
1. Make sure car is on a stand so wheels aren't touching the ground.
2. Switch on Transmitter followed by receiver/car
3. Either use primer bulb if fitted or remove hose from exhaust to fuel tank (at exhaust end) and blow gently for few seconds then replace tube
4. Slightly raise idle by advancing throttle trim
5. Place glow starter onto glow plug (ensuring glow starter has suffecient charge, if starter fitted with meter make sure registers into green area)
6. Then if pullstart, short sharp strokes to turn the engine over. Or with starter / starter box short compressions on box or button to turn over engine
7. When engine fires allow engine to warm up, 10-15 secs, remove glow starter while performing this. Turning trim idle back so wheels aren't turning but engine is idling. (may need to blip throttle to keep running until ready)
8. Place body on and remove from stand.
Ni-cad can normally be left in a discharged state with no problems.
Nimh must be left in a charged state ideally 70-80% of capacity. If left discharged for any period of time they are likely to fail.
Lipo's again need to be left charged, however if left for long periods 70% capacity is recommended.
Any model running a lipo battery should have a low voltage lipo sfae cut-off to ensure battery does not discharge to deeply. Most modern Esc's have this function but check before operation.
Lipo's should also be charged in a lipo safe bag with a lipo specific charger. |
